ELECTION COMMITTEE
Overseen by the Vice President, the Election Committee is comprised of all board members not up for election. Their responsibility is to certify that nominees meet the Qualifications to run. They are non-biased and do not endorse candidates or select a slate of candidates.
NOMINATION PERIOD
NOVEMBER 2, 2011 TO DECEMBER 7, 2011.
DATE OF ELECTIONS
DECEMBER 7TH VOTING WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING ON DECEMBER 7, 2011.
DIRECTOR POSITIONS FOR ELECTION: Four (4) At Large Directors
Committee responsibilities for each Director are determined at the Annual Board Retreat in Mid-December.
Qualifications for Board Members:
- Three (3) or more years of professional business experience.
- Commitment to the MBA Mission Statement, Guiding Principles and Code of Ethics.
- Completion and submission of the Board Member Application to the Election Committee by the required deadline.
- Ability to be in attendance at the Annual Meeting.
- Been a business level member in good standing for more than six (6) months or have volunteered for one (1) year with Come Out With Pride or Converge Orlando.
OFFICERS POSITIONS OPEN FOR ELECTION: President & Secretary
Qualifications for Officers:
- Meet the qualifications for board members, and
- Served one (1) term as a Board Member in the past 4 years.
ELECTION VOTE
- If the elections are uncontested, the general membership may agree to vote by acclamation to accept the entire slate of candidates.
- If there are contested elections the process shall be as follows:
- The order of elections shall be Executive Officers by rank, followed by Board Directors.
- The Election Committee Chair shall read aloud, in alphabetical order and without preference, the pertinent components of the nominees’ applications and allow each nominee two (2) minutes to speak.
- After speeches, the membership shall cast one vote for each position available.
